Devo time–thinking about those in the Middle East who have been martyred for their faith. Rev 12:10, “”They overcame by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony and THEY DID NO LOVE THEIR OWN LIVES EVEN UNTO DEATH. Not only did the martyrs, among them the 21 recently beheaded by ISIS, overcome death through their own resurrection, they but their sacrifices also have a part to play in our own “overcoming”. God will not allow those deaths to be in vain.

In a dream a few weeks ago, Marsha was captured by ISIS. In that dream she was told to renounce Jesus or be beheaded. Her response was, “Swing away!”

In my words, the third key yo overcoming the powers of darkness in Rev 12:10 is, “Be willing to die to yourself.” I am already dead to myself and alive to Christ. The devil can’t kill that which is already dead!

I would hope that, if it came to it, I could say to the enemy, “Swing away!” Meanwhile, having been united with Him in death (Rom 6:3-5) I live for Him in the reality of my own resurrection. That means on this side of heaven I choose to live for Him, just as I will on the other side of heaven.

“Living for Jesus,
A life that is true,
Striving to please Him
In all that I do”
