I’m sitting in the airport in Houston, about 3 1/2 hrs. com home and pondering about my trip to Lima and Tarapoto. The best part of the trip wasn’t spending the time with our Peru families and friends, though that time was very special. And it wasn’t having the opportunity to preach more in two days than I preached all year in the United States, though I I found it extremely fulfilling. And it wasn’t the healing miracles I saw, most of which were done through the students in the Signs and Wonders in the Marketplace Evangelism Workshop, though that certainly was exciting.
No, the best past of the trip was seeing people come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ! On my first trip to Peru The Lord cautioned me about keeping numbers lest I become prideful when HE is the one doing it anyway. And, if only one received salvation during the whole trip, it would have been worth the time, effort and money. The most I aw save from any one altar call was at least 17 and 5 was a typical number. Gloria a Dios (Glory to God!)
Another highlight of the trip was blessing a church in Lima with a financial gift for their Christmas outreach program. Each year they receive offerings to buy toys for kids in their church’s neighborhood, which is in a very poor district. Additionally, they are planting two more churches, and the outreach will help reach those neighborhoods as well. Samuel Castillo pastors that church with his father. Some of the Destiny readers will recognize that name; Samuel was our Hispanic Pastor at Destiny for or five years ago. It was neat that his daughter, Sharom, was my translator and she did a great job.
