Last night Jeff Dixon, Youth Pastor and Director of the NW AR School of Ministry at Word of Life (and our son, I proudly add) led the monthly Praise and Worship Experience at WLF. It was a powerful time of corporate ministry to The Lord. Toward the end, I sensed God saying, “I enjoy your time spent with Me in corporate worship–I really do! What I want even more is for everything you do individually to be done as an act of worship. When you drive, make it an act of worship. Your performance at your job should be an act of worship. How you treat your family should be an act of worship. My son’s whole life was an act of worship. Model His life and make your whole life become an act of worship.”
Now comes the challenge–living out the instruction. It means a total surrender of your will to God’s. I have a long way to go before I get there, but I’m working on it day by day. That’s because sanctification is a process, not an event. But I’m committed to do my best to make everything I do become an act of worship, that is, pleasing to God. I believe more than ever that I understand what Paul meant when he said, “I die daily.” It’s a day by day decision.
An old hymn’s first verse is, “Living for Jesus, a life that is true. Trying to please Him in all that we do.” Are you willing to die daily and make everything you do become an act of worship? That’s true Living For Jesus.
